Our Mission
Pregnant Mare Rescue (PMR) is dedicated to rescuing pregnant mares and orphaned foals from abuse and slaughter, advocating for the humane treatment of all horses, and enriching the human experience through education.
For nearly two decades, we have rescued, cared for, and found homes for pregnant horses and orphaned foals. We have rescued over 850 mammas and babies. They arrive scared, abandoned, and bound for slaughter—but here, they find safety and love.

Originally created in 2019 to document the gentle recoveries and new beginnings we witness every day, this film shows the real faces of our rescue work. Today, in 2025, the impact has grown: we’ve rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed over 850 horses — pregnant mares, orphaned foals, and the occasional gelding who found a home with us. The Sanctuary at Pregnant Mare Rescue
invites you to come share Sacred Space with horses. Established in 2006, the organization has devoted itself to pulling pregnant mares and orphaned foals from horrific abuse, neglect and possible slaughter situations. Presently we care for eight permanent residents. Our two geldings were born here with us, the remainder of the herd are retired (overused & unwanted ) broodmares, and our non ridable. We are excited to share our knowledge and experience from being with horses in their natural environment. Collectively, the herd is one unit of synchronized energy. Observing them in their natural habitat demonstrates exactly what every horse needs to thrive; friends, space and forage.
